The S-Web Origin of Composition Enhancement in the Slow-to-moderate Speed Solar Wind

Connecting the solar wind observed throughout heliosphere to its origins in corona is one of central aims heliophysics. The variability magnetic field, bulk plasma, and heavy ion composition properties slow are thought result from reconnection processes corona. We identify regions enhanced 2003 April 15 May 13 (Carrington Rotation 2002), by Wind Advanced Composition Explorer spacecraft, demonstrate their relationship Separatrix-Web (S-Web) structures describing corona's large-scale topology. There four pseudostreamer (PS) intervals two helmet streamer (HS) heliospheric current sheet/plasma sheet crossings (and an ICME) which all exhibit alpha-to-proton ratios and/or elevated ionic charge states carbon, oxygen, iron. apply helicity-partial variance increments ($H_m$-PVI) procedure coherent quantify during each interval. mean duration these $\sim$1 hr both HS PS wind. find a modest enhancement above power-law fit PVI waiting time distribution HS-associated at 1.5-2 timescales that absent intervals. discuss our results context previous observations $\sim$90 min periodic density wind, further development dynamic S-Web model, future Parker Solar Probe Orbiter joint observational campaigns.
